lattice curtain special project

a little seed was sown way back in march of this year. our paper curtains we installed as part of penthouse mouse has more impact than we could have ever imagined. at the time, we loved them for what they were but didn’t think it would go beyond shed 4, docklands, especially since they were made of tissue paper. it felt like a moment in time. little did we know that the brains behind the jewellery gallery pieces of eight, Melanie Katsilidis, had other plans in mind. a few weeks after penthouse mouse she contacted us to see if we would like to install in the windows of her gallery. all it took was a quick trip past to convince us, the giant metal circle in the window was so impactful we couldn’t say no. we spent a few months figuring out the logistics of a new curtain, this time we wanted to print it using our burnout technique. neither of us had the heart to lose another curtain to fragility so paper was out of the question. developing a new way of printing for our winter 2012 collection opened up a way for us to make the curtain and so work began on the design. after some trial and error and a few teething problems the curtains were installed this past sunday, and we couldn’t be happier. they will be up in the pieces of eight main window in russell place for the next while, with an opening event on november 15th. come along to view them in person
